ASSEMBLAGE Works was founded in 2022 by award-winning architect, developer and construction executive Michael Mathews. He saw an opportunity for his studio to utilize a wholistic 360º approach and the use of innovative technology for architectural design to bridge the frequent silos between architects, developers and general contractors.  The result? A unique and creative design approach that creates sustainable structures using modern methods of construction that ensures successful project outcomes, increasing project efficiency and mitigating risk. 

As CEO, Michael brings his extensive national expertise in design, use of innovative technology, project due diligence, entitlement, finance and construction management. He’s delivered over 5,000 units to multiple metropolitan areas, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, San Diego, Texas, New York and Orlando. 

Michael is a licensed architect in California with a B Arch from the University of Southern California.  He has successfully managed and executed multi-million-dollar projects ($300M+) and collaborated with development and construction professionals nationwide.  Michael also served as vice-chairman with the City of Burbank Planning Commission for many years and is an active member of professional associations, including A.I.A. Los Angeles, Modular Building Institute, Southern California Development Forum and the Urban Land Institute.
