ASSEMBLAGEworks (AWI) is one of the first architectural firms in North America to specialize in prefabricated and industrialized building systems. These systems enable the delivery of high-quality structures quickly, with beautiful details, neighborhood-friendly designs, and ambitious sustainability goals.
Principals Michael and Callie bring decades of experience in senior development, project management, and construction, having led large-scale ($900MM+) real estate projects. They have delivered over 10,000 units in major markets, including Los Angeles, San Diego, the Bay Area, Texas, Seattle, and Denver.
We seek to incorporate diverse perspectives on our team and in consultants and are looking for versatile partners and collaborators with a shared vision of nimbleness, creative problem solving and service to the community.

MICHAEL MATHEWS
FOUNDER | CEO
A rare native Angeleno, Michael has overseen large global projects as both an architect and real estate developer.
He founded AWI as an innovative counterpoint to stagnant project delivery methods in the AEC industry. Splitting his time between Portland and Irvine, Michael enjoys early morning Formula One watching and hiking in the Pacific Northwest.
CALLIE BAILEY
PRINCIPAL & STUDIO DIRECTOR
Champion of the triple bottom line: people, profit and planet.
An architect with strong industry relationships and 20+ years experience. Collaboration is part of her DNA— she strives to always find opportunities to improve processes, forge agile teams and create innovative solutions. Cooking, fantasizing about remote locations for cabins, and dog watching are favorite hobbies.
Conor Wood \ SR. PROJECT ARCHITECT
Originally from Colorado, Conor has a diverse portfolio of built work ranging from modular residential, to hospitality, commercial, and institutional projects worldwide.
Inspired by homebuilding with his father at a young age, his career has taken him to Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Boulder, now proudly calling Portland home for over five years.
Eddie Peraza Garzon \ ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
Eddie’s design journey, shaped by growing up both in Mexico and the Pacific Northwest, offers him a distinctive point view in architecture. With over 11 years of experience, he has played a key role in several local award winning projects, from Nikes’s largest office to park pavilions. His expertise lies in creating captivating and unique engaging designs. Beyond architecture, he explores creative pursuits in music and jewelry making.
